Check out this rare footage showing spawning behavior by Brook Trout in a local stream! Trout lay eggs in a nest called a redd. A female hollows out a depression in the gravel by turning sideways and swimming strongly against the bottom to clear out any silt. When she’s ready to spawn, a female lays eggs in the redd, which are then fertilized by nearby males.
