This is our top tip for doubling the amount of dahlia flowers you'll have this summer. Before you put your young plants outside, you want to pinch out the top auxilary bud. It can feel counterintuitive, but this forces the plant to put its energy into bushier side shoots resulting in a higher number of flowering stems.
