The Whitebark Pine (Pinus albicaulis) is just one of the unique species I got to meet while visiting Crater Lake National Park. It is considered a keystone species here because of its ability to grow on barren soils and to feed a lot of wildlife. Unfortunately, the tree is declining throughout much of its range thanks to the introduced White Pine Blister Rust fungus, and climate change increasing feeding frequency of the native Mountain Pine Beetle. #whitebarkpine #pine #trees #tree #pinetree #c
