The Coffin of Tutankhamun The golden coffin of King Tutankhamun is one of the most magnificent artifacts in the history of ancient Egypt. It was discovered in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor in 1922. The coffin is made of quartzite, and its corners are adorned with four protective deities spreading their wings. Inside, there are three smaller coffins in the form of the Osiris god. It is currently on display with all of Tutankhamun's artifacts at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. |
