Tantallon Castle is a dramatic 14th-century fortress located near North Berwick in East Lothian. Built around 1350 by William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas, it served as the stronghold of the powerful Douglas family for centuries. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Firth of Forth, the castle was designed with a massive stone curtain wall facing inland and sheer cliffs protecting it from the sea.
