Cairngorms wildfire flares up again near Abernethy — residents report major flare-up

A wildfire near Bordeaux, France, has burned 3,100 hectares (7,660 acres) of forest, forcing more than 20,000 residents and tourists to evacuate. Some 700 firefighters are working to contain the blaze and prevent flames from reaching homes as winds shift unpredictably.

Schools have closed and people are being advised to stay indoors as a “large-scale” wildfire continues to burn on Conwy Mountain. A major incident was declared by emergency services on Sunday 12 July after the wildfire broke out near Sychnant Pass on Conwy Mountain.
