The African country is experiencing one of the biggest outbreaks of the disease, and other countries are taking precautions.

The CDC has issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Rwanda due to an outbreak of the Marburg virus. The agency will also screen travelers from Rwanda.

Amid an outbreak of Marburg virus in Rwanda, travelers coming into the United States who have been in Rwanda in the previous 21 days will be screened starting next week, the US Department of Health and Human Services announced Monday.

The African CDC and Rwandan government objected to the Level 3 travel advisory issued by the U.S., saying Rwanda was being punished for its transparency.

The Marburg virus can cause a severe hemorrhagic fever that is similar to Ebola. And like Ebola, it can be deadly. This outbreak has included people in seven districts in Rwanda and by Tuesday, the number had risen to 36 people in isolation and treatment, many of them reportedly health care workers.
