Novak Djokovic moves a step closer to a landmark 100th ATP title with another dominant performance at the Shanghai Masters, beating Russia's Roman Safiullin.

Novak Djokovic was very happy with his performance at the 2024 Shanghai Masters so far, calling it his best in a while. The 37-year-old Serbian player arrived in Shanghai with many questions surrounding his form and level. This year, he didn't win any Grand Slam titles, but he completed his ultimate goal of winning an Olympic gold medal in Paris.

Djokovic most recently played on August 30, 2024 in the Round of 32 of the US Open and was taken down 4-6, 4-6, 6-2, 4-6 by No. 28-ranked Alexei Popyrin. Over the past two years, Safiullin and Djokovic have played one time in the Round of 32 of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, and Djokovic was the victor 6-1, 6-2.
