A 47-year-old man has been charged after authorities say he assaulted passengers and crew members on a Breeze Airways flight from Norfolk, Virginia, to California, forcing it to divert to Colorado.

David Carver Jr. allegedly made inappropriate sexual comments and racial slurs toward a flight attendant on the flight from Norfolk to Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The plane was diverted to the Grand Junction Regional Airport on Wednesday after 46-year-old David Leroy Carter began yelling racial slurs and waving a skateboard, according to Grand Junction Police.
