Eliot Wolf first dealt No. 171 to Detroit for a 6th (No. 182) and a 7th (No. 228). With No. 182, the Patriots selected kicker Andres Borregales from Miami, and then traded down with No. 228 again. New England sent that pick to Kansas City for two more 7th rounders (No. 251 and No. 257).

Eliot Wolf said that the Patriots' war room had a debate brewing between which player to select at No. 38 overall.

It's too early to tell whether Mike Vrabel and Eliot Wolf led a successful draft, but at least they appeared to be organized.
