Tropical Storm Melissa path forecast still uncertain

The National Weather Service stressed uncertainty in the long-range forecast for a possible coastal storm Wednesday through Friday.
U.S. forecasters issued a hurricane warning for Jamaica Saturday as Storm Melissa reached hurricane strength, threatening catastrophic flooding in the northern Caribbean.
Should another weather system develop into a tropical storm, it would be named Jerry, which is next on the list of 2025 Atlantic storm names.
Forecasters said there was “significant uncertainty” about where the tropical storm will go and how intense it could become. Spaghetti models are one of several tools forecasters use.
Oahu is under a flood advisory until 7:45 p.m. today as heavy rain falls on the central part of the island. “At 4:46 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over Oahu. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour,” National Weather Service forecasters said in the advisory.
Wicked weather for Halloween is not a lock. But forecasters are keeping a close eye on potential rain showers or a coastal storm.
But if all goes as planned, Zeringue said New Orleans could see highs in the upper 60s and overnight lows in upper to mid-50s — chilly, but not necessarily cold — on Halloween. Temperatures on the northshore could get even colder, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s.
