A traffic stop led to the discovery of 11 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside packages of carne asada, California authorities reported. A California Highway Patrol officer pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 5 in Fresno County on Oct. 3, according to a news release by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office.

The arrests come as California officials have cracked down on fentanyl and opioids in the last year. In June, Newsom deployed approximately 400 California National Guard officers throughout the state and along the U.S.-Mexico border to cut fentanyl smuggling. The drug is primarily trafficked into the country by U.S. citizens.
