A series of school districts across Central Arkansas have announced closures as severe winter weather is expected to enter the state.

A number of schools have been closed by icy conditions as people have been warned to prepare for further snow. At least eight schools are closed in Staffordshire, external, with Moor First School in Stoke-on-Trent and St Leonard's C of E First School in Stafford among those citing unsafe road conditions.

With the possibility of frozen precipitation in north Louisiana, area schools and government offices may announce closures as a measure of caution and to limit the amount of traffic on potentially icy roadways.
