Humans weren't the only ones in need of rescue during Hurricane Milton. Volusia Animal Services helped abandoned pets and other critters stay safe.

Massive power outages were reported in Volusia County after Hurricane Milton made its way across Florida. Approximately 50,000 utilities crewmembers are in Florida working to restore power as quickly as possible, Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a press conference Thursday.

Two people were killed in Volusia County after trees fell on their homes during Hurricane Milton, the Volusia Sheriff's Office confirmed. A third death was reported but was possibly caused by a medical emergency and not storm related, VSO said.
