Houston Texans, Bills and Stroud
Digest more
Texans backup quarterback Davis Mills has played well enough in the absence of C.J. Stroud for Houston to go 3-0 and get back into playoff contention. But Mills says there's no thought that he could continue starting once Stroud is cleared to return from his concussion.
The Houston Texans will be without star quarterback C.J. Stroud when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, as the 24-year-old remains in the concussion protocol.
While Mills has proven he can step in when needed, Stroud raises the Texans' offensive ceiling significantly, which makes Thursday's game against a top-ranked offense like Buffalo (averaging 387.4 total yards per game) all the more worrisome.
Is Mills looking at his successful run at QB filling in for the injured Stroud as an "audition?" Not even a little bit.
But with the Texans hosting the Bills on Thursday night, Stroud is still unlikely to play in Week 12. That puts Davis Mills in line to start another game, though Stroud may be able to return for Houston’s Week 13 divisional matchup against Indianapolis.
Footage showed Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud looking unpleased that Davis Mills was being praised in the locker room.
Off the field, Stroud has maintained a simple life and is not currently dating anyone. The biggest twist to his relationship status came in 2024, when Amber Rose briefly became the subject of rumors linking the two.
Josh Allen is on the verge of a milestone, but he faces a stingy Houston defense. Here's your prep for Week 12's "Thursday Night Football."
