Linemen working to restore power in Thonotosassa on Tuesday weren’t warmly received by a man who deputies say threatened to shoot them after he tried to plow through a roadblock.

Some families said they’ve seen unwelcomed consequence after Hurricane Milton: sewage backing up into their homes.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - Hillsborough County is making it easier for residents to get rid of storm debris following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. To speed up the cleanup process, the County has hired extra debris contractors and is offering more ways for residents to dispose of their yard waste and construction debris.

Hillsborough County students, faculty and staff will head back to class this week after being out of school due to Hurricane Milton.

The county opened 14 shelters for residents in mandatory evacuation zones for Hurricane Milton. The residents still in need of shelter are being transferred to Pasco Field Hospital.

Polk County schools are set to reopen Wednesday after Hurricane Milton, the county announced on Facebook. Schools will follow the normal school calendar, meaning early dismissal on Thursday and no school for students on Friday.

Pinellas County Schools said Tuesday morning that the district remains on track to resume classes on Wednesday following Hurricane Milton.
