Philadelphia Flyers star rookie Matvei Michkov is on the board, scoring his first two NHL goals against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night.

On the power play, Owen Tippett attempted a backhanded shot but it hit the end boards and bounced towards the front of the net. Michkov jammed the puck at the right post more and got it under the pad of Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner.

The big rookie in the City of Brotherly Love is looking to take off after a breakout performance. On Tuesday night, Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov scored not once, but twice, against the Edmonton Oilers.

In his second game in the NHL, rookie Matvei Michkov notched his first assist versus the Calgary Flames. In his third, he scored his first goal against the Flames’ provincial rivals, the Edmonton Oilers.

The Flyers felt strongly that Matvei Michkov would change the look of their power play. "Just on the power play alone, we hope that he can help us there," general manager Danny Briere said July 1. They've seen him help pretty noticeably only three games into his rookie year.
