Intel's 128-core Granite Rapids Xeons are barely two weeks old and AMD has already fired back with a family of fifth-gen Epycs that boast double-digit IPC gains with up to 192 cores or clock speeds as high as 5 GHz.

At just under $15,000, the EPYC 9965 uses the Zen 5c core architecture has 192 cores and 384 threads and will compete against Intel Granite Rapids Xeon 6 range as well as Ampere’s AmpereOne server CPUs. It has a base CPU speed of 2.25GHz with a TDP of 500W (AMD’s highest ever) and 384MB L3 cache.

The 192-core Epyc 9965 CPU has a boost clock of 3.7GHz and a TDP of 500W, with an L3 Cache of 384MB, for a price of $14,813. The 64-core Epyc 9575F is designed for GPU AI workloads and is capable of 5GHz, with a TDP of 400W, at a cost of $7,592.
