The Government Accountability Office’s audit examines DOGE’s handling of data at a number of federal agencies, according to sources and records reviewed by WIRED.

Musk said his group was on pace to cut $150 billion from the federal budget in one budget year. That would be a sharp drop from his previous stated goal of $1 trillion.

Elon Musk has repeatedly said there was fraudulent activity within federal agencies, and on Tuesday, the DOGE alleged that thousands of people "born in the future" claimed a total of $69 million in unemployment benefits.
