Chennai: Upset with the ongoing probe into the recent daring sexual assault on an engineering student on the reputable Anna University campus in Chennai, the Madras High Court on Saturday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising of an all-women IPS officers team. It also ordered a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the girl.

The Anna University should ensure the sexual assault survivor completes her course free of cost and the Chennai Police should provide interim security to her family, Justices SM Subramaniam and V Laks

The Madras High Court on Saturday (December 28, 2024) constituted an all-woman Indian Police Service (IPS) officers’ team to investigate the Anna University sexual assault case and another case registered by the cybercrime police to probe the leak of the First Information Report (FIR) pertaining to the sexual assault.

Chennai: The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Saturday formed a fact-finding committee to probe the alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old student at Chennai’s Anna University. The committee was constituted on the directions of NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar.
