Gov. Spencer Cox hopes lawmakers will charge forward with his plan to bring more energy production to Utah this legislative session.

The Legislature aims to tackle some of the most important issues in Utah this year, including the elections process, judicial reform and the housing and homelessness crisis.

Cox emphasized housing affordability, energy production, tax cuts for seniors, and potential legal adjustments following a controversy at Utah State University involving a transgender resident assistant.

Utah Legislature is starting its 45-day general session today. From now until March 7, lawmakers will propose legislation, debate, hear public comment and pass bills that will impact Utahns’ lives. Utah’s legislative branch is made up of 29 state senators and 75 representatives.
