So, I took my usual Aldi shopping list to Walmart, another chain that's famous for its low prices. I did my best to purchase the lowest cost, most comparable items at Walmart.
We visited four area grocery stores — Acme, Aldi, Giant Eagle and Walmart — to check the prices of grocery staples and fresh produce.
They were the only protein on my list that was cheaper at Walmart than Aldi, coming in at $1.58 a pound versus $2.19. I buy pasta every week, and both stores had a solid selection for the same price.
