This morning on Good Day Atlanta, we spent a few hours kicking off the Mardi Gras celebration at Louisiana Bistreaux Buckhead, where the coffee and beignets were hot and plentiful!

Metro Atlanta-based fraternity Omega Psi Phi says they are supporting police’s investigation into the death of one of their members. Caleb Wilson, a 20-year-old junior at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, died earlier this week in what was described as an “off-campus incident.”

A 14-year-old boy who was abducted from Atlanta seven years ago has been found in Colorado by investigators, authorities said Wednesday. Two people, including the child's non-custodial mother, have been arrested on kidnapping charges.

Mardi Gras festivities were underway early Tuesday in New Orleans despite a forecast of severe weather expected later in the day.

Powerful storms with a threat of tornadoes are expected to punch through Louisiana and other parts of the South on Tuesday just as huge parades and costumed revelers are set to celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans and other southern cities.
