It's been days since devastating floodwaters tore through the Hope 4 Paws Humane Society in Plainfield, New Jersey. Staff and volunteers had to swim through waist-high water to rescue dozens of dogs and other animals.

The two women killed amid severe thunderstorms and intense flooding in New Jersey were on their way to a bingo night at the time, family and friends said.
