Newsom and the State of California filed suit against Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and the Department of Defense over the National Guard being sent to the state to quell protests over immigration raids.

President Donald Trump this week reignited his threat that the federal government will take over and “run” Washington, DC, after a former Department of Government Efficiency employee was assaulted in an attempted carjacking.

President Trump said Tuesday that he may call up the National Guard or the military to conduct security operations at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Trump made the remarks after signing an executive order that establishes a White House task force to oversee security matters for the games.
