Jon Stewart isn’t going down without a fight. On Monday night’s episode, Stewart fiercely defended Colbert, who was a beloved correspondent on The Daily Show, after news broke last Thursday that CBS would be canceling The Late Show due to “financial” difficulties.
Stephen Colbert got an assist on 'The Late Show' from some of his late-night rivals following CBS's sudden decision to axe the show.
"I reached out to him, and I remember… he called me back. I was in a hotel room in Portland," Maron recalled. "And he goes, ‘Hey, you know, it's, it's Jon Stewart.' I'm like, ‘Hey man, how you doing?'" Maron then proceeded to explain the podcast he was doing and invited him to participate. Stewart replied, "I'm not doing that."
Jon Stewart doesn’t know whether The Daily Show will survive Paramount Global’s merger with Skydance—the one Paramount was willing to settle with Donald Trump to secure—but the show is adding yet another anti-Trump correspondent to its hosting rotation.
