Russia has scaled down the festivities honoring its navy citing security concerns as continuing Ukrainian drone attacks posed a challenge the Kremlin.

A Russian overnight air attack wounded eight residents of an apartment building in Kyiv, including a three-year-old child, authorities said on Monday, while the Ukrainian air force said a town hosting a key air base had been attacked.

Explosions were first reported in the capital late on July 27, according to Kyiv Independent journalists on the ground. The attack comes mere days after Russia and Ukraine held their third round of peace talks in Istanbul on July 23.
