BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Birmingham City Council members released a joint statement following an arrest made in connection to recent a mass shooting. Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond announced the arrest of Damien McDaniel Wednesday, October 16.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with three cases in Birmingham, Alabama, last month, including a mass shooting that left four people dead and 17 others wounded in the city’s lively entertainment district,

McDaniel was charged in October 2019 with two counts of attempted murder and discharging firearm in occupied dwelling or vehicle for shooting into a car with two people inside. Hours after his preliminary hearing in January 2020,

Police in Birmingham have arrested a suspect in connection to a mass shooting that left four people dead and who they believe is responsible for other shootings in the city.
