The 12-week Tesla automotive program is only offered at eight schools, with locations in California, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Texas and North Carolina, according to the Tesla website.

So far, 300 students have graduated from the Tesla START program. The TSTC program will begin in March 2020 and the students participating will also be employed by Tesla as hourly interns.

The START program trained students in 12 weeks to become automotive technicians certified to work at Tesla service centers. SCCC was one of a handful of schools in the nation to offer it.

Tesla said it and Evergreen would be hosting informational sessions about applying to the START program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at EVC.
