A winter weather system headed toward North Florida prompted the governor to issue a state of emergency for the region on Monday.

Once-in-a-generation snow and ice on the Gulf Coast has led officials to encourage everyone to stay off roads in northwestern Florida. Gov. Ron DeSantis said for some states it would be business as usual,

"The roads could become hazardous beginning this afternoon. There’s going to be ice, there’s going to be snow..."
