If you're new to PC gaming, here's a crash course on the Steam Machine and how it differs from a traditional video game console.

After announcing the release date for the Steam Machine earlier this week, Valve sneakily also confirmed that the latest version of its Linux-based operating system, SteamOS 3.8, would be the first to be available for download for all hardware configurations, letting you turn your existing desktop into your own Steam Machine.

Xbox Game Pass users are eligible for additional discounts on select titles. There are over 8,000 deals to be found during the GOG.com Summer Sale, including a handful of rotating flash deals. Find everything up for grabs over at GOG.com.

Can't get a Steam Machine? Valve says PC gamers can build their own, thanks to SteamOS 3.8 and support for AMD hardware.

If you already own a good gaming PC, there's no need to pick up Valve's new Steam Machine. Their decade old streaming device, the Steam Link, is excellent.
