Athletics rookie first baseman Nick Kurtz won his second consecutive AL Player of the Week award, MLB announced Monday, to no one’s surprise.
Kurtz keeps his family and girlfriend off Instagram, where he focuses on baseball photos. On the field, though, his girlfriend, parents and siblings were in the stands to watch him get his first hit as a Major Leaguer, according to the Bee. They even got some air time on television, as his father gestured in an animated fashion.
Nick Kurtz has jokingly and affectionately been given the nickname of "Big Amish" by his Athletics teammates. As a result, his celebration after a double or home run is unique from every other player on the team,
