The Old Farmer’s Almanac’s forecast called for a “mostly mild — with pockets of wild” winter in New York state. The almanac included Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island in New York places where it predicts a somewhat milder-than-usual winter, USA TODAY Network's New York Connect team reported.
