Nvidia launched Thor via a video (top) featuring the company’s long-time CEO Jensen Huang handing a gift box to a humanoid robot with a message card that says, “Enjoy your new brain.” The clip then shows multiple humanoid robots opening the box to find the new device that’s designed to make it a lot cleverer.

Generative AI is moving off the cloud and into robots as NVIDIA rolls out its Jetson Thor computer to power humanoids, surgical assistants, and industrial machines in real time. On Monday, the company announced the general availability of the Jetson AGX Thor developer kit and production modules.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is bullish on the future of robotics, and sees it as the chipmaker's biggest opportunity outside of AI. Today the company announced the next generation of its Jetson AGX system-on-module called Jetson Thor.
