Proposition 50, a high-stakes gambit by Gov. Gavin Newsom and fellow Democrats to redraw state congressional districts in what the measure’s supporters called an effort to counter Republican gerrymandering in Texas, passed in a special election Tuesday night, according to The Associated Press.
Former Congressman Tom Davis (R-Va.) who served as chairman when Waxman was the top Democrat on the committee, told Nightly, “ We’re in the world today where the minority party no longer considers themselves a minority stakeholder but the opposition party.”
