After a rough down year for the San Francisco 49ers last season, Kyle Shanahan's bunch is (understandably) looking for a major rebound to contention this fall. Such a rebound will likely require everyone in the 49ers' core to be on the same page and working as one.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle pushed back against a rumor about his current contract demands. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported Wednesday that Kittle "wants to become the NFL’s highest-paid tight end." She added that he and the Niners "remain apart" in negotiations.

One site suggests the 49ers send Kittle and a fifth-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for a third-rounder (No. 86) and a fifth-rounder (No. 158). The Niners lose in that projected swap ... badly.

Instead of McCaffrey making life miserable for opposing defenses, it was Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley. Instead of being the key that unlocked the 49ers’ offense under Kyle Shanahan, McCaffrey introduced the fan base and media to the term “bilateral Achilles tendinitis.”

San Francisco got a terrific injury update on star running back Christian McCaffrey on Tuesday afternoon. The 49ers running back said he has no restrictions from previous injuries and is participating fully in the offseason program.

Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Purdy and the 49ers are "inching closer" to working out a long-term deal that will make him one of the 10 highest-paid players in the NFL by average annual salary.

The San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy appear to be at an impasse in their contract discussions. While Purdy wants a deal similar to the one Dak Prescott got from the Dallas Cowboys, John Lynch and the 49ers do not seem inclined to give it to him.
