The powerful Category 3 hurricane made landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast on Wednesday night with 120 mph winds.

Milton had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph when it roared ashore near Siesta Key, Florida, at 8:30 p.m., the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said.

Surge prone areas could see 5-8 feet of water above ground in and around Naples, according to a warning from the National Hurricane Center. The NHC is particularly concerned with the surge through Thursday evening. Other places included in the warning is Marco Island and Everglades City.
