Southbound Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton was shut down Saturday after a police pursuit ended in a shooting.

A Virginia judge on Friday handed down five life sentences to former University of Virginia student Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., closing a wrenching week of testimony nearly two years after a shooting that devastated the Cavaliers' football program and the broader campus community.

Derquan Edwards, Jashawn Stewart of Akron and a juvenile were arrested and charged in connection to the deadly shooting at the Bath Airbnb on Nov. 2.

The incident occurred at 2:41 a.m. Saturday near mile marker 45, just north of D Avenue, and left one person injured.

One deputy was killed and at least two people were injured in a shooting near Vero Beach while an eviction notice was being served,

A sheriff's deputy has died and another was injured on Friday after a suspect opened fire when officials were attempting to serve an eviction notice in Indian River County, Florida, according to the local sheriff. "What an awful day, six days before Thanksgiving," Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers said during a press conference on Friday.

Birmingham police announced Saturday night that no criminal charges will be filed in the killing of Willie Rasean Raby.

Michael Halberstam, 37, died from his injuries at 3:41 p.m. Nov. 22, according to sheriff's officials. He had been hospitalized at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce since the Nov. 21 shooting that killed Sgt. Terri Sweeting-Mashkow, who was promoted from deputy to sergeant posthumously.
