The Shoe Fire burning northeast of Shasta Lake in northern California has grown to 400 acres. The vegetation fire is burning on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in the Sulanharas Creek near the Madrone Campground.

Shoe Fire initially started 1:18 p.m. Oct. 9 in Shasta County. Since its discovery eight days ago, it has burned 4,179.3 acres, an increase of 48 acres since the last update. By Thursday afternoon, a crew of 485 firefighters effectively contained 8% of the fire.
