As SEPTA's funding deadline approaches, the Pennsylvania State Senate introduced a new plan to fund the transit system, but Democrats oppose it.

HARRISBURG — Senate Republicans are considering pulling $592 million over two years from money designated for ongoing or planned transit capital projects to help fund SEPTA operations for two years as the transit agency prepares deep service cuts in the state’s most populous region.

On a visit to SEPTA headquarters on Sunday, Gov. Josh Shapiro said “it’s time for Senate Republicans to come back to Harrisburg, do the job they were elected to do, and keep Pennsylvania moving.”
