New York Judge Juan Merchan denied President-elect Trump's request to delay sentencing in the New York case that found him guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Donald Trump failed to convince a New York judge to delay his sentencing in his hush money criminal case, keeping the consequential hearing on track for Jan. 10 unless an appeals court steps in.

His lawyers announced on Monday that Trump would appeal the decision by Justice Juan Merchan ordering that the sentencing would proceed. In court filings, Trump's attorneys wrote they would seek "a dismissal of this politically motivated prosecution that was flawed from the very beginning".
