Hamas had given verbal approval to the ceasefire and hostage return proposal under negotiation in Qatar and was waiting for more information to give final written approval, a Palestinian official, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.

A source within the Palestinian Hamas movement has confirmed to Newsweek that a long-awaited ceasefire deal has been reached with Israel amid the longest and deadliest-ever war in the Gaza Strip. The Hamas source said the group would address the agreement in an upcoming announcement.
