With 260 casualties and only one surviving passenger, the Air India 171 crash is one of the deadliest aviation incidents in recent history — and so far it’s proving to be one of the most frustratingly opaque.

The aircraft's right engine was found resting beneath a concrete water tank on the building's rooftop. The tail section of the aircraft was found embedded in the building's northeast wall and was later moved to the ground.
