(Reuters) -Healthcare conglomerate CVS Health has bid for stores and patient data in the U.S. Pacific Northwest from bankrupt pharmacy chain operator Rite Aid, according to two people familiar with the matter on Thursday.

In a regulatory filing, the company confirmed that CVS will take over and operate many Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs locations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Rite Aid plans to close hundreds of its U.S. pharmacies but said it would sell some in the Pacific Northwest to CVS Pharmacy. The Philadelphia-based Rite Aid has faced a slew of financial troubles over the past two years. The company first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, after which it shuttered hundreds of stores nationwide.
