The Red River Rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners is among the oldest and most storied rivalry games in the history of college football, dating all the way back to 1900 when the teams met for the first time. On Saturday, in 2024, the rivalry will be seeing a change for the very first time.

Michael Taaffe made his first appearance in the Red River Rivalry in 2022. That was not the first time that he made it onto the Cotton Bowl field.

The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners will once again face off in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas this coming weekend in one of college football’s most celebrated rivalries. In other words, it’s almost time for this year’s Red River Shootout.

The three-year starter has missed the past two starts with an abdominal strain but will be ready Saturday in the Cotton Bowl.

Quinn Ewers will return as the starter for Texas against Oklahoma after missing the previous two games with an abdomen strain.
