Gators ranked in AP preseason poll for 1st time in Billy Napier era
The Florida Gators, barely visible on the national preseason radar in coach Billy Napier’s first three seasons, registered a significant blip Monday. The Gators, who ended the 2024 season on a four-game win streak and feature the deepest roster of the Napier era, are 15th in the Associated Press’ preseason poll released Monday.

GAINESVILLE — Florida is ranked No. 15 in the Top 25, the Gators’ first appearance in the preseason football poll in coach Billy Napier’s four seasons. UF opened No. 13 in 2021 under Dan Mullen, who was fired late in the season as his team stumbled to a 6-7 finish.
