Astro Bot continues to win gold after Geoff Keighley's major event in December, winning Best Game of the Year at the prestigious New York Game Awards on Wednesday. Metaphor: ReFantazio also took the Herman Melville Award for Best Writing in a Game and UFO 50 was presented with the Off Broadway Award for Best Indie Game.

Hosting and presenting the award was former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé who paid tribute to Team Asobi's charming little title. "So I have to admit it, Astro Bot almost outdid Nintendo at its own game," Fils-Aimé said, which drew some laughs to the people in attendance.

The New York Videogame Critics Circle announced its winners on Monday night, naming Astro Bot the 2024 Game of the Year. Sony and Team Asobi’s hit PS5 platformer also picked up honors for Best Music in a Game and Best Kids Game.
