A Missouri woman has been sentenced to life in prison for a rare case of fetal abduction in which she tried to take her baby.

The woman accused of kidnapping and murdering a Benton County, Missouri woman in 2022 will be sentenced in federal court tomorrow. Court records show Amber Waterman pleaded guilty in July to kidnapping resulting in death and causing the death of an unborn child.

Waterman, 44, of Pineville, Mo., pleaded guilty in July without the benefit of a plea agreement to federal charges of kidnapping resulting in death and causing the death of a child in utero in connection with the deaths of Ashley Bush and her unborn child in federal court in Springfield. She pleaded guilty without the benefit of a plea agreement.

The Missouri woman admitted that she kidnapped a pregnant woman in order to claim her unborn child as her own.
