Switch 2’s flagship launch game, and its first major Nintendo first-party exclusive, is Mario Kart World. The first brand-new game in the series for more than a decade, World promises to be the biggest Mario Kart experience ever. It’s the launch game that almost everyone will buy.

When Nintendo first unveiled the Switch 2 via a short teaser video in January, it felt the need to include a few seconds of footage of exactly one new video game running on the console: a new Mario Kart. This will be, numerically speaking, the ninth one, but it's very possible Nintendo calls it something other than Mario Kart 9.

There doesn't appear to be an upgrade path for existing Hogwarts Legacy owners on Switch 1.
