Mughrabi WASHINGTON/UNITED NATIONS/CAIRO (Reuters) -Israel has agreed to a U.S. ceasefire proposal for Gaza, the White House said on Thursday, and Hamas said it was reviewing the plan although its terms did not meet the group's demands.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mideast envoy expressed optimism this week about brokering an agreement to halt the Israel-Hamas war and return more of the hostages captured in the attack that ignited it.

Hamas gives the Israeli-approved draft a cool response, but says it wants to study the proposal more closely before giving a formal answer.
